The Treasure Valley is surrounded by the Owyhee, Weiser and Boise mountain ranges that rise steeply to 8-9,000 feet above sea level and range in distance from eight to twenty-eight miles away from Caldwell. The slopes are partly covered with sagebrush, which gives way to ridges of fir, pine, spruce and juniper trees. Caldwell is 25 miles west of Boise and is the second largest city in Canyon County. The premier event in Caldwell is the Caldwell night rodeo, a tradition that is held annually in August. Caldwell is growing in recognition as the heart of Idaho’s wine country. May features the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the Treasure Valley which is hosted by the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. Summer brings Wednesday evening Farmer’s Market at Serenity Park. The Indian Creek Festival is the highlight of Autumn and is a favorite downtown, Caldwell activity. Downtown Caldwell is adorned with winter lights and activities that center around the growing Indian Creek community area.

The College of Idaho is a private liberal arts college that was founded in 1891 and continues to enjoy the national spotlight for academic excellence. Notable graduates include Joe & Kathryn Albertson, Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and many others.
